Govt nominates nodal officer for coordination on safety of J&K residents, students in Iran | KNO

Srinagar, Jan 15 (KNO): In view of the prevailing situation in Iran, the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday nominated Anil Sharma (JKAS), Additional Resident Commissioner, New Delhi, as the Nodal Officer for coordination and liaison in respect of residents and students from the Union Territory presently residing or studying in Iran. According to a Government Order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), Civil Secretariat, J&K, accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Anil Sharma has been designated to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, the Indian Embassy/Consular authorities in Iran and other relevant agencies to facilitate information sharing, travel support, and welfare interventions for J&K residents and students. The order further states that the officer shall coordinate and liaise with the Ministry of External Affairs, the concerned Embassy/Consular authorities, and other relevant agencies, as may be required, to facilitate information sharing, coordination, and necessary interventions relating to the safety, welfare, travel facilitation and related matters of the residents and students of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in Iran. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Office said the Government, concerned about the safety and well-being of J&K residents and students presently in Iran, has nominated the Additional Resident Commissioner, New Delhi, as the Nodal Officer to coordinate with the MEA and the Indian Embassy in Iran for documentation, advisories, and welfare support.
